Katie Cobalt (she/they)
Katie Cobalt tried many different dance styles before falling in love with Swing. The freedom of improvisation, the satisfaction of rhythm and the deep historical and Black cultural roots of the dance made her want to learn more.
She is now known for her classroom energy, musicality, and infectious enthusiasm for all things Jazz. When it comes to dance, they deeply value self expression and fully committing to the idea. As a teacher, she focuses on individually helping her students on their own dance journeys and finds so much joy in seeing them grow.
Katie holds multiple first place titles at, International Lindy Hop Championships, Balkan Lindy Hop Championships and Savoy Cup. When not throwing down in international competitions they are teaching all over the world in more than 20 countries sharing what they have learned. When not on the dance floor you might find them in a hip hop class or on the stage at their local drag bar as Azure Thang.

Hung Jie Hsu / Jason (he/him)
“Be sassy and be jazzy!” Freedom of expression characterises Jason’s teaching and dancing! Jason will show you not only the ways you can connect to the music and express yourself through improvisation but also how to feel free to do it. That’s the main value you will get from Jason! With a background in second-language and cross-cultural pedagogy and theatre training, you will be immersed into an inclusive, safe, and playful journey into learning, not from, but along with him!
In addition to dancing worldwide, Jason is bridging his dance experience with academia. Having recently earned a Master’s degree in the Anthropology of Dance and been admitted to the Ph.D. program in dance at Taipei National University of the Arts, he is now examining cross-cultural bodily expression and movement in Lindy Hop through the lens of queer studies, while also bringing queer perspectives into the classroom.

DJS:
Bands
During our two nights of partying, we will have live music delivered by two great bands. They will give us that playful, jazzy and queer energy to make us move our feet throughout the nights.

Cats and Dinosaurs
We are excited to welcome back our house band who’s been with us every year since the start. This year, they will play for us during Saturday evening.
Cats and Dinosaurs is a swing collective from Gothenburg, and three of their members were part of creating the first Queer Lindy Festival in 2017! They honor the jazz pioneers, not by copying them note for note, but by embracing their energy and radical attitude. In this attitude they perform their original songs with feminist and left wing political lyrics. And being lindy hop dancers themselves, they know exactly what kind of groove the dancers need!
